Clay is used to make various projects from lamp stands to casts; you might as well know a little about clay besides the fact that clay can be used for sculptures and pottery!

Clay usually comes in one of two colors: white and red. The color of clay you have will determine what color the final project is. White clay is commonly called stone-wear and obviously comes out white. You'll notice most Greek sculptures are white, and they are great examples of the outcome from using stone-wear. Although they are a great example, Greek sculptures are not made out of stone-wear. Red clay is called terracotta, and is commonly used to make large projects of pottery and other sculpting projects.

To complete something made with clay, it has to be heated it at extremely high temperatures in an oven. When heating them you're adding fringes to the clay. Two types of fringes are bisque and glaze. Bisque means heating the clay for about a day at 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. On the other hand if you're glazing clay, heat it for a day at 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. Both add coatings to the clay, but using bisque to fringe the clay will give a thinner and less shinier coating compared to glazing.
