Homework Help: English: Books, Novels & Plays: Daydreamer
written by Ian McEwan
review by Anika Waldin
What is the trouble with being a Daydreamer, according to the author? The trouble with being a daydreamer according to the author is that if you don't say much, the teachers who don't know you very well are likely to think you are dull.
What happened to make Peter think of the largest number in the world? Peter thought of the largest number in the world because he was doing maths problems that have large numbers in them.
Why had Peter been 'staring at his page, writing nothing and sighing'? He was staring at his page and sighing because he was thinking about the biggest number in the world and also what his dad had told him about astronaughts.
What did peter realise as he grew older? what he realised as he got older was that if people can't see what is going on in your head the best thing to do is tell them.
How do you think peter's teacher would have reacted to his answer to the maths test? His teacher would not be very happy with his maths results, because all he wrote was the first number in the first sum.
What sort of things do you think peter might have invented? Things that make everyday life easier.
What types of stories would he have written? I think he would have written very imaginative stories, because he sounds like he has a very good imagination.
