Homework Help: Health: Social Health: How to Take Care of Your Hair
IT'S AMAZING...IT'S...HAIR!!
The hair that grows out of your head has over a million strands! Hair can
be of any shape, size, or color. It can even turn green if you hair is
blond and stays in chlorine for too long! As people grow, they tend to
lose more hair. Moreover, people with the disease leukemia lose hair.
Hair needs nourishment and moisture to be healthy. Sun and heat from hair
dryers and other forms of heat can damage your hair. Also, chemicals like
hair color and hairspray can really harm your hair. Permanent hair color
can hurt your hair even more than temporarily hair color since temporarily
hair color has a tendency to stay for a shorter time. People who highlight
or color their hair are 95% more likely to get gray or white hair at an
earlier age than those who don?t! Also, ammonia can hurt and spoil hair.
Natural ingredients and herbs work best for hair, like those found in
Herbal Essences. A hair trim every 1-2 months can prevent split ends.
Curly hair should be combed with your hands or a wide-toothed comb.
Combing curly hair with a normal comb can cause the hair to be frizzy. In
addition, curly hair is best when it is air-dried since air-dried hair lets
the hair remember its natural state. Hair should not be washed
frequently, like everyday, especially if it is dry hair. Washing dry hair
everyday can cause it to be extra dry and damaged. Also, it will strip
your hair of its natural oils, which causes it to look dull. However, dry
hair can be washed everyday if it is washed with a conditioner that has a
low level of conditioning. Oily hair can be washed everyday to get rid of
the oil. If hair is washed with cold water, it is more likely to shine,
since the light would reflect back on the hair. Also, if shampoo and
conditioner is not washed out properly and some of it is left behind,
dandruff can form on your head.
