An index card is a piece of paper, usually heavy cardstock, used to record information. Normally index cards have lines. Students use index cards for studying homework.

Teachers use index cards to list student names. Index cards have largely been replaced by computers, palm pilots, blackberries, etc... Index cards are used by law firms to index file information.

Parents use index cards to write recipes and reminders. Kids use index cards to draw on. Stores stock index cards and other school supply items. Index cards are still used to write down ideas.

Index cards come in many colors including red, pink, yellow, blue, green and white. Index cards are not like playing cards which are glossy and laminated while index cards are made out of pulpy paper material.

Organizing ideas, quotes, and thoughts are very easy using index cards. Index cards can be cut and folded to make paper footballs. Games can be drawn on index cards. Index cards are perfect for stapling or posting on the refrigerator or bulletin board.
