Joan of Arc had great faith in god. She believed that she had been chosen to lead the French in the battles against the English. The English soldiers were afraid of Joan because the believed that she had supernatural powers. She died a martyr at the age of 19, she was burned to death. Joan of Arc was a famous historical country because she stood up for what she believed in and her country.
1412 January the 6th - Joan was born at Domremy in Champagne probably on January the 6th, 1412 to Jacques Darc and Isabelle Romée.
1424 Midsummer - At the age of thirteen Joan heard voices. At first these voices were simply a voice as if someone had spoken quite close to her. Later on she saw the appearances of those who spoke to her recognising them as St Michael, St Margaret, St Catherine and others. Joan was reluctant to speak about her "voices" or "counsel" as she called them.
1429 - Joan of Arc went to meet Charles VII the king of France, to ask to help the King get the English out of France (which was her mission.) But before Joan of Arc could be employed in military operations she was sent to Poitiers to be examined by a committee of bishops and doctors. They found nothing supernatural about her and thought she might be safely employed and further tested.
1429 30th April - Before entering upon her campaign Joan asked the King of England to move his troops from French soil. The English commanders were furious at the demand. But Joan quickly got to Orleans on 30th of April her presence at once worked wonders.
1429 17th of July - Charles was crowned king
8th September 1429 - The English attacked Paris. Joan heroically cheered on the men but was then shot in the thigh by a bolt from a crossbow.
1429 December 29th - Joan was ennobled along with the rest of her family, given a coat of arms and surname "du Lys."
1430 May 23rd - Joan was captured
1430 December 25th - Joan was held in a tower at Rouen where she would stay until the 30th of May
1431 January 9th - Beginning of the first trial
1431 May 23rd - Conclusion of the trial
1431 May 30th - Joan was convicted of Heresy and Witchcraft and was burnt at the stake.
