What is adoption

Adoption is the legal process by which a person or couple becomes the legal parent(s) of a child who is not biologically theirs. This typically involves terminating the parental rights of the child's biological parents and transferring those rights to the adoptive parents. Adoption ensures that the child has a permanent and stable family environment and legal rights as a member of that family. Adoption can occur domestically or internationally and may involve infants, older children, or even adults.
