European Explorer Journal 1:

As a European explorer, I am seeking to find a new sea route to Asia in order to access highly demanded spices from the Moluccas. The conditions of travel are harsh, as we face long voyages on the open sea with limited resources. However, recent inventions such as the compass and astrolabe have made navigation more efficient and reliable.

European Explorer Journal 2:
Upon encountering native people, I was initially curious and eager to establish trade relationships. However, our interactions were often met with conflict, as we struggled to communicate due to language barriers and cultural differences. Despite our efforts to establish peaceful connections, misunderstandings often led to disputes and violence.

Native Person Journal 3:
Before the arrival of Europeans, my people lived a traditional life in harmony with nature and our surroundings. However, the immediate effects of European arrival were devastating, as diseases brought by the explorers decimated our population and disrupted our way of life. Additionally, the Europeans introduced new technologies and weapons that forever changed the balance of power between our tribes.

Native Person Journal 4:
The long-term impact of European arrival on my way of life was profound. Our traditional customs and practices were gradually replaced by European traditions and beliefs, as we were forced to adapt to new ways of living. The Europeans imposed their culture and religion on us, leading to the loss of our ancestral heritage and identity. Despite our efforts to resist colonization, our societies were forever altered by the arrival of Europeans.
